Waiting on God (3/13/2011) Waiting on God ''I will wait for the Lord, who has turned away from the descendants of Jacob. I will put my hope in him.'' (Isaiah 8:17) Are you trusting God for something that seems to be taking longer than you had hoped? The Bible tells us that His ways are higher than our ways, and many times His timing is not our timing. Just because things in the natural don't seem to be moving as quickly as you'd like, you can trust that God is working behind the scenes on your behalf. He’s lining up opportunities. He's bringing the right people into your life. You may not see it. It may not happen the way you planned, but know that when you wait on the Lord, He will renew your strength (see Isaiah 40:31). When you put your hope in Him, you won't be disappointed. Your situation may look the same as it has for the past ten years, but one day, God will bring it all together. Remember, His plans for your life are for good, to give you a hope and a future (see Jeremiah 29:11). Isaiah chose to wait on the Lord. He was determined to not look at life the way everyone else did. He chose not to focus on the immediate circumstances. No, he knew God would see him through the hard times and bring him out better than he was before. Notice that Isaiah was doing two things: waiting and hoping. Some people wait without hope. They have an attitude of, ''well, I guess God isn't going to come through. Nothing is happening, Then, slowly but surely, they begin to lose their faith and confidence. But when you have hope, it activates your faith and opens the door for God to move on your behalf. An attitude of faith and expectancy gives you strength in the difficult times. Hope always keeps us going. ''But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint'' (Isaiah 40:31). |
